Yes, Windows is worth it for those things as Steam and Origin primarily use Windows for games. Is it the price that puts you off?

Yeah its worth it. Most games and programs don't work on Linux. Its just a more polished os than linux but don't think I mean that Linux is crap. Its good for a lot of cases. I use it on all of my other PCs than my main ones. But I think that Windows is just generally better and despite its cons and such, I would still say its better

I prefer Windows 8.1, but if you're getting a 10-series GPU, I'd go with Windows 10.

AFAIK Origin does not have a native linux client so you need to run your games on the Wine translation layer; you'd be better of with windows. Some steam games are native on linux; theres a filter on steam's web site for you to see what is available. Chrome is supported officially on linux.

-merged and moved to OS section-

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.
