Help a peasant ascend! :D

Hi guys, just a console peasant looking to ascend with some help from you lovely people!

 

I already have a few parts my brother has left over as he upgraded his PC some time ago.

 

The parts of I have are;

i7-3770 3.40GHz - Micro-ATX based CPU <- Hope I got that right

8GB Ram

1x 240 SSD & 1TB HDD

I have a keyboard, mouse and a headset, so peripherals don't really matter.

 

So yeah apart from those I juts need some parts and a case that I can easily upgrade if I needed to. I've tried to do some 'part picking' myself but I just can't do it I don't trust myself x(.

EDIT: My aim for the PC is to play games and next gen games at least on 60fps on high  @ 1920x1080 :).

 

DOUBLE EDIT (becasue I'm a scrub): My budget is around 500-600 GBP and my location is the UK.

Sorry  I'm too muich of a scrub - budget would be 500-600 GBP and I'm in the UK

Alright, well this is just a quick attempt, but here's what I would get. CPUs tend to age well, especially strong CPUs like the 3770. With this combo, you should be able to play any game at 1080p 60 FPS with all settings maxed out easily. You would probably be able to do 1440p too.

Yes, this will handle 1440p with ease.

Is the cooling fixed already on the EVGA ACX 3.0?

I'd probably get a s340 case from NZXT instead of the source 210 with the extra money that you dont need to spend on a motherboard, as you have a motherboard already ( if I read your first post correctly..) ... looks a hell lot better. Upgrading to 16GB of RAM is definitely a good idea for the future.

Yes, that is fixed, but didn't it only affect FTW cards anyway?

I didn't see that he had a motherboard. If he does, then definitely there are improvements to be made to my parts list.

I'd imagine if there's a "handmedown" CPU there's also a mobo, but now I'm second guessing my statement. So probably my bad...

No, no, you're fine. It's just that @historicalpoultry might've been a bit confused, especially since CPUs aren't M-ATX, ATX, or ITX based. Those are all motherboard form factors (sizes basically), so he (among other reasons) might've assumed that you had a motherboard too.

Aaaah  Me and me bro tried to see if it would fit in a spare motherboard he had but it was smaller than the space was there so he said the Motherboard had to be an Micro ATX if I was to get one. Too confusing for me but with a lil bit of google I sort of understood
