Hello everyone, so my main game is CS:GO and recently i bought myself a 1080. I ran max settings with GSync OFF and achieved 300 max FPS and 290 Min FPS, i turned GSync ON and the max went to about 140 FPS and the min 130 and the card stays at 30C, so what i dont understand is why the card isnt working harder to achieve higher than 144 FPS to match the HZ rate.

How to fix?

G-sync is limiting the gpu to maintain a smooth look to your games, g-sync can match your monitors refresh rate to the frames being generated by your computer, however it cannot force your monitor to render more frames than its is rated for. For example if you were to walk out of a very difficult area to render where your gpu is being allowed to work more to a room which is simple to render you gpu doesn't immediately slow down, g-sync will see that your frame rate is increasing and bump up your monitors refresh rate a little and slow down your gpu. This isn't a glitch or problem that 4hz loss is a buffer to make sure you don't experience any screen tearing.

I understand now, Thanks

unless your monitor is 300Hz then that's the intention of G-Sync. It synchronises your frame output perfectly with your monitor's refresh rate. I assume you have a 144Hz monitor? In which case it should stick pretty hard to 144Hz.

Equally, if it ever drops below 144 fps, the monitor will slow down it's refresh rate to look smooth with your card.
