Thermal Paste suggestion

Bouzoo
Go to solution Solved by Owlman,

I use Noctua NT-H1, I have no problems at.

I'm planning on changing thermal paste on my Asus N550 after 2 years, and was thinking of buying something better than my current Arctic MX-2. I know Tweaktown said it's horrible and Hardware Canucks recommended it, but since I don't trust TT, I went with it since I needed it asap at the time.

I know it's not laptop subforum, but I'm asking for suggestions in general.

I'm not sure (didn't test it), but is there any difference between the thermal compound from one manufacturer to another? I'm using some TC that came with my Cooler Master 212 EVO and it's pretty good so far.

Not signifcant difference, no. The maximum difference is about 5C, and that's the difference between the cheapest and most premium type. The Cooler Master thermal compound is completely fine.

I figured that NT-H1, MX-4 and Silver 5 would be the first recommendations and I was debating between them with leaning towards MX-4 or NT-H1. xD Seems I'll go with Noctua then.

If you think you'd feel more comfortable with a non conductive thermal compound, I'd suggest the CM MasterGel Maker Nano. From my own experience, it performs really well and (depending on where you live and where you buy from) it's also a more affordable option compared to something like Arctic Silver 5 (at least where I live which is England).

Well I can buy Silver 5 for pretty much the same amount I can get the other mentioned ones, ~$9. I've no issues with conductive compounds so I'll go with Noctua, but tnx for suggestion. ^_^
