$400 or less build

GamingPug

1. Budget & Location

$400 or less. Philippines.

2. Aim

Light office work and non 2k gaming. I just need something to play mobas and AAA games though I'm not expecting to play it at ultra or the highest setting. I just want smooth and easy gameplays.

3. Monitors

Well I was planning to get a 40' Generic monitor for gaming and watching movies.

4. Peripherals

I could get a cheap keyboard and mouse for around $40. So yeah I'm pretty covered in this part.

5. Why am I upgrading?

It's not really an upgrade. I lost my desktop a year ago. It exploded and yes I am not kidding. After cleaning, reformatting and getting my PC ready it just popped. Didn't know what really happened and I didn't really cared that much since I was just rocking an AMD X3 and a stolen videocard along with 4gb ram and 120gb hdd. So yeah I just need something to get by with. I could use my old case which is a Thermaltake V1 I think.

I did make a list of what I wanted and what I though would be a good cheap rig for the time.

The list is composed of the following:

Intel G4400

Asus H110M-K

Gskill Ripjaws V 8gb DDR4 2400

WD Blue Caviar 1TB

Sapphire RX460 2gb

No PSU yet

Any suggestions? I was thinking of upgrading to an i3 soon too but not now.

Nah, that's a solid build. Nice.

Make sure you get a halfway decent PSU

karma's a bitch

I'm not sure what PSU to get. Any suggestions?

The stolen videocard was just pay back from what he stole from me. Haha!

1) There's a reason he said Philippines, prices are way off

2) That PSU is shit

3) What the hell is with that case?

4) 120GGB is not enough for anything with Windows

1) He gave $400, so he probably means after his currency to US conversion.

2) It's not a hardcore gaming PC so it can handle it.

3) It's a case, what's wrong with it?

4) 120GB is enough for Windows and a few files unless he's downloading hours worth of 4K porn.

i'm not sure the availabilities in the philippines but id recommend you find a pre built office pc at least in canada you can find i5 hp computers for about 125 and then toss a used graphics card in and you can get a decent computer for pretty cheap though some times you need to do some modifications with a soldering iron to fit them in. though im not sure how the used computer market is in the philippines

better to compromise on sheer FPS than risk your PSU damaging everything or having to deal with such a tiny drive or having that thing in your house

evga 500w is fine its when you start using brands with weird ass names like demon tek is when you want to be worried and its not going to cause a fire unless you jam a piece of metal in there but that goes for all psus

a 1050ti or rx 460 would (in most cases) be able to run solely off of mobo power too, so no psu issues

yeah but i'm recommending a used gpu which would probly have at least a 6 pin though a 460 or 1050ti could work withought having to do some frankensteining

And windows 7 or 10 if they upgraded

Add gpu

I could find a pre built office pc but it'll cost a whole lot more here. I've seen a couple of old i3 2nd gen that's going around for 15k pesos that's roughly around $320 USD.

G3258 vs G4400. If I was opting for overclocking I'd go with the G3258 but I'm sticking with default clock speed. And I couldn't live by with just 120gb SSD though it would be fast but meh. With the VC I'd still stick with the RX460 it's around 5,700 pesos which is around $130 USD. Also I couldn't find any Patriot rams here that are cheap it's kinda hard to look for.

And I'm not willing to ship any parts.

Thank for the offer but I don't want to ship anything since my country's shipping policy include an absurd tax which usually cost 3/4 of the original price plus handling fee which is around $5. So yeah it'll cost more and it'll be a pain in the ass not to murder anyone in that facility. 9_9

Found MSI H110M PRO-VD Motherboard Socket 1151 Pcie Ddr4 for $69 which is the cheapest mobo I could find here that support LGA1151 and DDR4. Couldn't find Gigabyte GA-H110M-A. Should I just go with DDR3? How much would it affect my system so?

Sorry not really good with hardware. :)

the MSI H110M PRO-VD is good too. whatever is cheapest.

if you get DDR3, you need to buy DDR3L. otherwise it won't work with your cpu. you could get either DDR3L or DDR4, but finding a compatible motherboard if you decide to upgrade might be a pain.

DDR3 = runs at 1.5v

DDR3L = runs at 1.5v AND 1.35v (1.35v is needed to work with your cpu)

Ah nevermind then.  With a 460 he will have to run medium to low settings on AAA games, however.

Thanks a lot! :)

I haven't bought anything yet. I was considering the 1050 Ti but I found that the RX460 was the one I'd most likely to buy since it's easier to find here than the 1050 Ti.

Update Update! :)

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965T 3.4 Ghz Black Edition

Motherboard: Biostar A960D+V2 (AM3+)

RAM: G.Skill RipJaws X (Dual) 2x4gb DDR3 1600 CL9

Graphics Card: Sapphire HD 6770 1GB GDDR5

Casing: Cooler Master USP 100 (Black and Red)
Monitor: AOC 18".

So my friend is willing to sell me this ^ rig for $155. Was used but mainly on light gaming and browsing. Now I'm looking for a good PSU for this any recommendation? :) Thanks!
