Hello, I would like to make you a question. I have a Asus Maximus VIII Impact and I'm getting a long boot delay on the first logo (where it apears the "F2 or DEL to get inside bios"). I must say I have selected fast boot and selected to off the "memory check on boot". How can I remove this screen so the windows boot gets more fast?

So... I ran a few tests and I discovered that my second hard drive (WD 500 GB Scorpio Blue) was making my boot more than 1 minute. With just one SSD installed and no hard drive my boot is now on 28 seconds. I just don't understand how a slave drive can delay my boot!!! Hope you can give me some lights on this issue! regards and continue doing a good job as you are doing.

Hello done12many12!!

Thank you so much for your fast reply.

That is a very good point that you reach. I have tried it already but the issue stills exists :(

I must say, I'm not using any kind of RAID and the only component I allowed on boot was the "master" Toshiba 250 GB SSD. After I removed the Slave hard drive (WD 500GB) I verified that the boot was must faster.

This is really weird and I would like to understand and to keep a second hard drive on my computer. Any lights Done12many12?

I am going to assume that you installed Windows 10 with Compatibility Mode initially enabled.

I recommend that you do a fresh install of Windows 10 with Comparability Mode completely disabled first.  Before you begin the install, disconnect the HDD and any other SSD that you have with the exception of the SSD that you plan to install Windows on.  This simplifies the install and troubleshooting.  You'll then boot from the UEFI version of your USB installer flashdrive.

I see your point.

I don't remember If I installed with UEFI and not compatibility mode. I believe I did it with full UEFI mode.

I will give a try and make a new installation of using Windows 10 by installing only the master SSD and I will let you know my feedback.

What are your thoughts about the UEFI and compatibility mode on this matter? Do you believe if have selected compatibility mode on the installation it will create slow communication between devices?

I think the clean install of Windows with all other drives removed will fix your issue.  I'm sure that your Master Boot Record (MBR) was installed on the HDD on your current setup, hence your problem.  Reinstalling Windows with only one SSD installed will ensure that your MBR is on your Windows SSD and will speed things up for you.

UEFI is faster to POST and load Windows when compared to BIOS.

Hope that helps.

Hello!

So, I made a full new installation of Windows 10 64 bits. This did not solve the problem because it was making a slow boot each time I was connecting the hard  drive WD 500 GB.

After I verified this, I realize that when I connected another hard drive (hitachi 250 GB) as a slave that did not make any problem. You can see where this is going! :)

With this, I verified that I forgot to delete the partitions on the WD 500 GB (slave hard drive)  and so I did it... With this, the slow boot starts to be random.

I have learned with this a lot, I can say now that the problem is on the hard drive and it seems to be a mechanical problem because the needle is doing to much noise sometimes... And also to not forget to delete all windows 10 partions...

Thank you for all your help because it was very important.

Thanks.
