Quietest CPU cooler?

The Cryorig coolers are not available in Canada.  The Dark Rock Pro 3 is $77 CAD.

I'm thinking either the 212 for $32 or a Noctua NH-L9i  for $49

The Noctua is a low profile unit for ITX cases, but has amazing reviews and Noctua is always super quiet.

Yeah that Noctua one, though it'll be quiet, is still meant for small form factor only. Definitely go with the almighty 212.

What is the quietest, inexpensive cpu cooler?  I'm looking for something really quiet, preferably under $50 CAD.  This is for a locked i5 3470 CPU.  I don't care about really great temps, just want it quiet.

212 EVO?

212 EVO?

Literally any big enough cooler, 212 EVO and better will do. In Canada the cheapest that I'd recommend is this http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/hJFPxr/deepcool-cpu-cooler-gammaxx400

This thing has great cooling performance, but to make it quiet you gotta use software to make it spin at min speeds - since your CPU is locked min speed will keep it below 60.

If you would like an even quieter fan to go with the cooler, http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/product/b2vRsY/noctua-case-fan-nff12pwm

Another option is get the tried and true Hyper 212 or the Be Quiet! Pure Rock (which some people argue is better)

and for silence, get a Noctua NF-F12 Fan to replace the stock one that comes with you heatsink. Then use the stock fan as as a case fan

212 EVO?

Zalman FX-70, it's not getting better than a passive CPU cooler.

With a bit a case airflow it perfrmes decent on a 77 watt CPU.

Mineral oil and 40 kg aluminium heat sinks are a perfect combination: 73 cores and a Titan X, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Oil

Thanks for that.  I looked on Noctua's website and you are correct, they don't recommend it for my CPU.

I decided to just go with the mighty 212.  $32 CAD with free shipping from Amazon.ca!

Thermalright Macho Zero, since it has no fan... *badumtss*

Seriously, pairded with a decent case fan (NF-F12 / 14, Silent Wings and the likes) it well be pretty darn quiet. But you have to life with the air duct. I kinda like the way it looks, but ",Tastes are differen' spoke the monkey and bit into the soap bar" xD

That's pretty cool, but it's not listed on pcpartpicker.com.  Where can you buy those?
