uninstall and reinstall everything pertaining to AMD cards

maybe the error message is being given by the old crimson software built for the 200 series, and it doesn't recognize a 400 series?

uninstall crimson, uninstall all display drivers, etc.

the card works, and obviously is detected by the OS, so I think that the error message might just be crimson's fault.

Maybe try gaming and see if you are running off of intel graphics or AMD graphics (should be easy to tell because of the performance difference)

i actually thought that was the problem, so i uninstalled it and the checked program files for any left over files.
