I'm getting the MSI b150m mortar mb for my rig. The mb supports 2133mhz ram but I'm getting the avexir core 2400mhz 8gb ram. I hope it will work but the mb will downscale it to 2133mhz. But does the mb support xmp to bring it up to 2400mhz.

Memory speed doesn't really make a difference, so don't worry about it

That's very generalistic. There are thousands of different programs and applications in which memory speed makes a big difference.

In other words. No, it won't work fine. Your motherboard may or may not successfully downscale to 2133MHz (But it probably will), and no, you won't be able to upscale your motherboard's max speed capabilities to 2400MHz.

So, if you want to get the most out of your RAM, try to find a mobo that supports 2400MHz or higher. Or else just buy 2133MHz memory if you can find it cheaper, that way you save a couple dollars.

I'm using 2400mhz RAM on a 2133mhz mobo. It works absolutely fine. There are some complex applications where higher speed does make a noticeable difference, but since this build seems to be focused on gaming there won't be a difference. Buy the 2400mhz for looks or buy the 2133mhz if you want to save literally a few dollars

That's an F in the profile pic
