I don't think the R7 240 will keep 50FPS at 1080p for GTA V max settings.

It definitely won't, even a GTX 950 has trouble getting 50fps at 1080p with ultra settings...

If he is talking about 720p, it might be achieveable...

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/pCg44C This might fair better but still, Ultra settings at GTA V Ultra Settings will probably not be achievable.

This would be better for around the same money:

The RX 460 has similar performance to a 950, so it does beat the 750 Ti...

At 720p with a mix of high and medium settings, you should be able to get 60fps

(Or at 1080p, everything on low)

Also that Pentium is dual core non hyper threading. The Xeon X5450 is Quad Core non hyper threaded and is as cheap as $15. Idc about the 300MHz higher clock speed

I know that, the Socket is old too, and for servers. But still, its a 3GHZ Quad Core CPU. I might be able to get a AMD FX chip for a bit more and 4GHZ Quad Core or higher.

You do know that GHz doesn't matter, right?

Yea. I know.

Hyper Threading and Cores matter more to me. Though AMD is basically pure power.

You can mod an LGA 771 CPU to fit in an LGA 775 motherboard and then you can overclock it. (Tech City has a tutorial on it)

AMD is kind of left behind atm... I mean, an i3 has better performance than an FX-8300

Technically, it does if it was the same chip, same processor, same everything and the only factor was clock speed.

But you don't judge CPUs by GHz... Eg: AMD 5GHz 8 Cores (FX-9590) vs Intel 3.0GHz 8 Cores (i7-5960X)...

Do I even need to say which wins? :P

Even if you turn off hyper-threading on the i7, it will still win :P

And the amount of cache is equal I think...

An intel Octa-Core hyper threaded CPU is OVERKILL. Especially the 6950X

I put this together real quick and its OVERKILL AF for less than a 6950X

Add about 200 dollars for a desk and you got a setup for less than a 6950X
