Gsync + Vsync "On (smooth)" for SLI users?

Hey everyone,

I recently got a new monitor with Gsync (ASUS pg279q). I've been trying to figure out the best settings and I see that many people recommend enabling Gsync AND vsync in the control panel, but turning vsync off in-game.

My question is whether I should set the vsync option in the Nvidia control panel to "On" OR "On (smooth)"? These are two separate "on" options. Apparently, this "On (smooth)" option only is available for SLI users and helps with stuttering. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

not exactly hat you asked for but, the whole therminology and VSync/Gsync/FreeSync (and in some way both of these at the same time) are explained and tested here.

1. Video is a general overview (+ some funny German / or more austirian touched accent)

2. discuss a bit of VSync+GSync (+ some funny German / or more austirian touched accent)

3. Some more tests by LTT ... shows a little bit of confusing things

TL;DR it some how depends on the display driver, the Game engine and the overall settings, but all in all the thing is not exactly fixed yet that's probalby one of the reasons that you are a bit confuessed the community is not 100% sure yet and everthing might change in the future with upcomming driver updates .... you probably have to try it yourself and take the settings that suit you most

Don't use V-Sync with G-Sync.  It greatly increases input lag.

Just cap your FPS slightly under the max refresh rate of your monitor for example with RivaTuner.  Don't use NVIDIA Inspector for that as that increases input lag by a lot too for some reason.

EDIT

You meant for SLI?  Then this may not apply as G-Sync is apparently not working as well with SLI so there may be differences.
