Budget isn't an issue, needing advice on what parts to use for a computer build for my mom, she does facebook games, some light games, sims, stuff like that so she doesn't need like a 1070 or w/e. I was gonna give her a 6700k for multi tasking but then with a weaker GPU won't that bottleneck? I was going to give her like a 3GB 1060 or something like that maybe a 1050 TI not 100% sure but again will those bottle neck the 6700k? I mean even if they do I doubt it matters since its not like she rendering 4k porn or some shit, so as long as the processor still performs will I guess she would be fine. I could also just give her an i5, no hyper threading but idk if she honestly needs HT, at most she has maybe max of 5 browsers open if that, shes been playing a chat game called IMVU but that runs fine even on her AIOs quad core, so what are your guys thoughts?

Thinking about giving her the Gskill KM780 keyboard, she's always loved rainbow keyboards, for the mouse I'm not too sure what style she likes, so far shes just been using a cheap plastic acer one, might pick her up a logitech or something. For the monitor she wants a large touch screen, she didn't specify size but I would assume over 24''

can she live without a touch screen monitor? or does she REALLY need it?

Not a huge fan of those parts, also no point in a 6700 when the 6700k is only like 30$ more. Don't want mini mother board, it would serve her well yes but no point. Also not a fan of the case. I'm gonna throw together something on my own and see what you guys think, but nobody answered my question about the 6700k being a bottleneck.

mate ive got a laptop running the old duo core with on board graphics  that can do what you are saying, without funds being an issue, what about size? aesthetics?

the 6700 seems like over the top for general use, this said your mum will never have any issues with it. the on board graphics may allow for most of what she is doing and will allow for 5+ browsers open ( ive got 9 open at the moment with a FX6300 and all running fine)

True, that's why I'm thinking about the i5 6500, when I build my new rig I can just give her mine, save 200$

for multitasking and light gaming? an i3 6100 would be great. pair it with a 460 you are good to go. put in some 16gb ram sticks 1 tb of storage then you basically have all you need under 500$

Yea that's probbaly what I'll do except ill probably just use this i5 6500 instead, save 100$ buying an i3 and 4 phsyical cores will be a little bit better then a dual core HT

it not necessary just getting the latest parts, if your mum doesn't really need , or understand, but just wants it to work, then the 6500 will be fine, you can work with her to build the best she needs, while not being silly, unless your mum is going to go into adobe photo shop full time :D

I'll just hard wire her, my mom likes to think wifi causes her games to lag even when shes getting 180 MBPS down, she doesn't know the difference between input lag and fps lag so I'll just hard wire her so shes happy.

Here's what I've got. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/qWDzkT

i5 will be good for what she does and I already own it, haven't picked a cooler just realized but ill probably pick that white one somebody posted above to match, motherboard is a bit more premium then needed for such a simple build but the more white the better the purple LEDs will stand out, chose 8G of white ram, 8G is fine for what she does, a 1TB SSD is plenty of space for her and will be super fast, a 1050 Ti is probably a bit more then what she needs but its fine, I wanted something with RGB lighting that could be changed to purple but that means spending an extra premium on like a 1070 or something which she will never even touch like 10% of a card like that, so the EVGA card with its grey will match the mother board, chose the s340 white to fit the color scheme and a nice 550w fully modular gold PSU to power it all, don't need that much power but I wanted a fully modular gold rated to make sure she gets a good premium quality PSU and then I can make the cable management fancy.

Now as far as the monitor goes PCPP does not have a touchscreen filter option so ill just look on amazon.

why? the z170 is pretty pointless with a i5 6500. you might aswell go with a 6600k.

same price, different processor and better cooler.

Does it matter? I mean sure I can give her a 6600k I guess but why does it matter if its an i5? I really only chose the board for the color, if you know a less premium micro atx/atx white board feel free to link it.

yes, it does matter. it wont hurt to get the 6600k... its good to have it there for extra performance if she needs it.

Well no thats not what I mean... I mean why does it matter if I put a 6500 in the mother board instead of a 6600? same socket type and all that right?

Its an extra 230$ (I already had the 6500) but I guess its worth it, plus I can just sell my 6500 back down the road for some money, I don't HAVE to give it to her.

it doesn't matter but you're paying more for just the colour of the motherboard? you might as well get a H170 board that's FOR the non-K processors....

here you go if you want to stick to the 6500.
