Will this motherboard benefit from an M.2 PCI-E speeds?

I'm starting to delve into the idea of an m.2 form factor and wondering if the bottom PCI-E lane on this motherboard can support a PCI-E ssd.

Will my read/write speeds be about the same same as a normal 2.5 inch SSD?

the r/w are a case to the m.2 drive or the 2.5inch drive, since the m.2 is pcie i would think it would support it.

It supports it, but do you really need it? The increased speed are only really noticeable over a SATA SSD when working with large files.

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

To put things into perspective;

HDD to Sata SSD is like cutting down 10s to 1s (9.0s saved)

Sata SSD to PCIE SSD is like cutting down 1s to 0.5s (0.5s saved)

And PCIE SSDs cost more for lower capacity. Is it worth the premium for what you gain?

I'll let you decide.

I suppose you both are right. I might as well keep that slot open for something else I may need in the future. Thank you all for the help.
