G'day!

So I have put together a preliminary parts list for a productivity/heavy gaming rig. I just need a few suggestions for the some of the components. The CPU and GPU are final descisions.  Just about everything else is up in the air.  If you all notice any compatibility issues or have any suggestions for different components please let me know!

A few notes: This computer will spend the vast majority of it's life working with heavy multithreaded workloads inside various DAWs and Video editing software.  A lot of load will fall on the RAM as sample libraries and project files can quickly become very large.  I would like to keep the cost around $2.5K.  Fast, reliable storage and RAM are top priority.  I am not too concerned with aesthetics but if I can make it look pretty while staying below the set price, I don't see why not;)

Components:

Intel Core i7-6800K 3.4GHz 6-Core Processor

Asus GeForce GTX 1080 8GB ROG STRIX Video Card

Corsair 760W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply

Asus X99-A ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard

Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 Memory

Corsair H100i v2 70.7 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler

Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive X2

Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 ATX Mid Tower Case

I'm still deciding on case fans.  Suggestions are welcome!

Please let me know of your opinions and suggestions in regards to this build. I plan to order components by November 19th.  Any idea is welcome!

P.S. I will make sure to post pictures and benchmarks of the completed system once it is built.

Thank you for your time

Location/currency? Could you please change the colour of the writing from blue, it's hard to read in night mode. 760W is overkill, 500W is enough. Why two separate SSDs? Why not one single large one, less chance of failure and cheaper (Partition them if you wish).

Please quote our replys so we get a notification and can reply easily. Never cheap out on a PSU, or I will come to watch the fireworks.

He may want to do a RAID format with them.

He could, but I dont see the point. SSDs dont fail much and the performance increase from RAID 0 would be minor.

Go with the Asus X99-A II because it comes with a BIOS that supports Broadwell-E. the X99-A requires a BIOS update to support it.

And no, a 500 on a 6800K which would most likely be overclocked and a GTX 1080 is definitely pushing it. the 1080 recommended minimum PSU is 500W anyways. I would say a 750 is just fine. PSUs operate optimally at 50-80% usage

I cant imagine it would be necessary to have more than 550W-600W for this (For the sake of efficiency).

If he wants to overclock he's better off having more; remember, LGA2011 chips use 50% more power stock than a regular chip.

Even more when overclocking.

Haha, recommended power for cards is greatly inflated to make sure people don't use ones that are too small, or inferior units that can't actually provide the power they claim. They idiot proof them.

Nah not for X99. 600w would be. 500w would be enough for something like an LGA1151.

use @GalacticRuler's build with a 750 gold psu and you're good.

dont fight about the PSU. you always want more then you need, it's common sense & gives rooms for more addons and such.

CPU : i7 4790K // GPU: MSI 980Ti 6G // CPU Cooler: LEPA AquaChanger 240 // MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI // RAM: 16GB HyperX Fury @ 1866 //    Case & PSU // Fractal Define S & EVGA 750W
