Travelling With a Console

Statik

Hey guys,

So I live across the country from my family, and over xmas I am travelling home for about 2-3 weeks, and I'm gonna bring my PS4 home with me. What would be the best way to travel with it? Carry on? Checked bag? I still have the original box and all the carboard holding pieces as well.

Thanks,

Depending on the airline (namely how much you trust them), it's generally a better idea to do carryon. If you trust the airline, then a checked bag with some newspaper to prevent it from getting jostled around and a fragile label should suit you.

"Not breaking it or making it worse is key."

"Bad choices make good stories."

I think if you can carry-on the PS4 and don't mind the extra weight it's for sure a more overall reliable option, but if you can trust the airline and/or are willing to take a small chance it might be broken or loss during shipping, just do it as a checked bag. PS4's are generally pretty heavy, at least you don't have an XBOX one like me :)

If you have to ask the question "how should I pack this when flying" then the answer is "hand luggage only".

Hand carry should be the safest choice or you can mail the PS4 in its original box with the cardboard holding box if you trust your local mailing company

I'd probably call the airline and ask them if carrying the console/electronics into the plane's cabin would be a problem with security/TSA.

Carry-on is the safest bet, since you only have yourself to blame if you break it. :)

On that note, it's considered a computer, so you will have to take it out and put it in its own bin at security checkpoints. However, I've traveled with my PS3 in my check-in. I just make sure to pad it well with my clothing.
