Gigabyte 7950 Weird OC

Go to solution Solved by SpenceSouth,

So I should just proceed to OC core clock more and forget mem clock then?

Indeed.  That is, if you can squeeze more out of it.  That's a pretty impressive OC you have there.

Hello everyone! So I find the issue I'm having to be pretty peculiar. I am able to OC my Gigabyte 7950 from stock 900mhz to 1200mhz @1.23v and game all day long. However, as soon as I try to increase the memory clock (stock 1250) my card immediately becomes unstable and games crash. Is this just luck of the draw in regards to the silicon lottery or am I doing something wrong with my OC? Thanks in advance.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. My card will run happily at 1230 MHz @ 1.17v. But will crash if the memory is pushed 5 MHz.

A believe I remember hearing that quite a few models of the 7950 don't have adequate VRAM cooling for some reason or another...  You might just be stuck with it where its at.  I wouldn't sweat it though.  Memory clocks don't impact your FPS much.

+1 to this. Memory isn't the bottleneck of the 7950 especially with 3GB and a 364 bit bus.
