SF450w just enough or 650w?

TheEndIsNear

This is my intended build http://pcpartpicker.com/list/vzhnGf

Should i go for a just enough wattage Corsair SF450w, or should i get higher wattage? and by higher my only choice is a Super Flower Leadex Gold 650w.

i wanted to go for this particular Corsair PSU only because it is cheaper, and the leadex is $20 more

the corsair sf is a sfx PSU. You will need an adapter to mount it into an ATX case.

The difference is that the SFX power supply is smaller. The connectors are all the same.

And yeah 450W is plenty for your build.

i was aware that it is a smaller size but is it that the PSU will be too small for the case?

Yeah, if the case is built for an ATX PSU, the SFX PSU won't line up with the mounting holes.

why pick a tier 1 psu? a cxm would already be enough for your build. and it is way cheaper

If you are looking at the Super Flower Leadex 650w, it would mean that you are not from the US. Can you provide a link to the store you are buying from and your budget (in your currency)?

The SFX SF450 would power that system and will require a mounting bracket like this: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/sfx-to-atx-psu-adapter-bracket

Also, since it is design for a small form factor case, you may run into an issue of the cable being a little too short as well.

because most PSU sold online charge too much on the delivery which causes it to be much expensive here

currently my options are:

Corsair CX650M

SEASONIC M12 II 520W EVO - 80Plus Bronze Modular PSU

Corsair CS550M Semi Modular PSU

EVGA 700B

(these four above are priced the same)

Super Flower Leadex Silver 550W (much much cheaper)

Super Flower Leadex Gold 650W (another $20 more but i would be willing to pay because its tier 1)

*unless tier 1 really isn't needed

Yep, Super Flower doesn't sell their PSU under their name here in the US. If we want to buy a PSU based on the Leadex platform, we have to do so with EVGA with their Supernova G2 / P2 / T2 line.

You have a budget of around ~420 MYR / 100 USD ?

A soild budget unit like the Corsair CX450M for 246 MYR would power your system:

http://www.lelong.com.my/corsair-cx-series-cx450m-450-watt-80-plus-bronze-modular-atx-psu-hypetech-185035542-2017-11-Sale-P.htm

The Super Flower Leadex Silver 550w is looks good as well if you in a need of a fully modular unit for 308 MYR: http://www.lelong.com.my/super-flower-leadex-80-plus-silver-550w-650w-full-modular-psu-cwchoo85-I2541520-2007-01-Sale-I.htm

For a higher-end, better quality unit, the Super Flower Leadex Gold 550w that you was looking at would be good as well for 370 MYR:

http://www.lelong.com.my/super-flower-leadex-80-gold-550w-650w-850w-1000w-1300w-full-modular-cwchoo85-I2541524-2007-01-Sale-I.htm

Wow, didn't expect your effort to look around for me, thanks Bro :D i sincerely thank you for the effort.

I was using a different website therefore i didn't saw the CX450W unit, i think i will choose this instead.

Thanks again!~

A cheap CX430 will run that with no effort. The only reason to concern yourself with a "tier 1" psu is if the hardware is upper mid range to high end. Save yourself a bit of cash. The CX430 is the absolute lowest I would go tbh

Edit: I have a Corsair 430 laying around as a backup--it used to power an overclocked 2500k + a GTX 560 Ti and it never gave me trouble.
