It won't hurt.

When it comes to games, even that tiny 1-5fps can make all the difference of a game being playable. I think it applies here even if you don't game as rendering times and responsiveness can make a difference to one's creativity and flow.

I am planing on getting an Acer Alpha Switch 12 but I don't know which model to get. I narrowed to down to two models, Alpha Switch 12 SA5-271-39N9  or the Alpha Switch 12 SA5-271-56FD. From what I'm reading the only difference is the processor and the price difference is only $50 dollars. Is the i5 worth the extra $50 bucks or not.

What I will be doing:

* documents and moderate use of Internet

* Moderate use of Photoshop

Intel i7-4790 | Gigabyte z97x G7 | MSI 980TI | G.Skill Ripjaw Sniper 32GB 2400Mhz | Segate 2TB SSHD/Samsung 850 Pro 256GB SSD | Phanteks Enthoo Pro

Pretty much the only difference is about 400Mhz.

Go for the i5, even if you say you're just gonna do some light work, it's not gonna hurt getting the better part.

You don't want to realize some day that you could have got an i5 for only $50 more. It's a laptop, you can't really change much after you buy it so I say get the i5. They're both dual core as per the website but bragging rights brah B|

You can bark like a dog, but that won't make you a dog.

How I plan my builds -

Spoiler

For me I start with the "There's no way I'm not gonna spend $1,000 on a system."

Followed by the "Wow I need to buy the OS for a $100!?"

Then "Let's start with the 'best budget GPU' and 'best budget CPU' that actually fits what I think is my budget."

Realizing my budget is a lot less, I work my way to "I think these new games will run on a cheap ass CPU."

Then end with "The new parts launching next year is probably gonna be better and faster for the same price so I'll just buy next year."

You don't want to realize some day that you could have got a quad core for only $50 more. It's a laptop, you can't really change much after you buy it so I say get the i5.

The u variants are all dual core, even the i7s.

Sorry guys I forgot these were laptop parts and some i5s are really dual cores. I edited my post but your replies were too fast xD

But still, go for the i5!
