Remote edit a file

Go to solution Solved by mariushm,

Yes, it's possible.

Have him share the folder on the network if you both are in a local network.

Have him install a ftp server (Filezilla FTP server is fine for Windows computers) and have him a user in the ftp server software with all rights and have him tell you the IP of his computer. he can type "what is my ip" in google to see his external IP. You connect to his computer using FTP, download the file, edit it, overwrite the file with your edited copy.

Have him install some remote desktop software (RealVNC , freeware TightVNC ) and when you know the username and password he sets up and the IP of his computer, you can remotely use the keyboard and mouse and see the screen, so you can edit the file.  But he'll see what you're doing and will basically be a spectator.

Alternatively, he can send you a remote assistance request ( start, type windows remote assistance in search box) and then you can use Remote Desktop Connection to connect to his computer and edit the file while he watches you.

Or both of you can run TeamViewer from site with same name and you can remotely work on his computer.

If you hack the remote desktop service to enable it on home user versions of Windows, and he creates a second user, you could then connect to his computer using the second username and both of you could work and do stuff on that computer at same time, and you'd be able to edit the file without him being interrupted (it's like two separate desktops and everything)

All work, but depends on if you want to secretly edit something (to trick him or "hack" him) or if it's a legitimate use case
