Hello

for christmas I am getting a PC and I'm building it myself I have a problem between these two and don't know which is better to purchase for gaming http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/8jHCr7

coukd you help me please ?

Congrats on getting a new pc! I personally love the AMD fx-8350 CPU based on personal experience with it. However I would recommend you go with the Intel I5 just because they generally last longer and will probably perform a bit better than the amd CPU.

I am curious tho, How come you decided to go with the 4th gen I5 instead of a skylake like the I5 6400/6500, and DDr4 ram, cost or availability?

I just threw in quick edits for you, I'm at work, just a recommendation to get you more up to date hardware for a similar price.

I might suggest going with an i3-6100 instead of i5-4460 if you plan on using it for gaming and gpu driven games (Which are most), neither are k proccesors so they "can't" be overclocked. The 6100 has a 3.7ghz frequency vs the 4460's 3.2ghz frequency, but it only has two cores instead of four. If you are only using it for gpu driven gaming and day-to-day usage then two cores should be fine and the higher frequency my lower potential throttle. It's also two generation newer and is cheaper.

CPU: I5-6600k | MOBO: MSI Z170-A XPOWER Gaming Titanium Edition | Cooling: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO |RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB DDR4 2800 | GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING ACX 3.0 Black Edition | Case: MasterCase Pro 5 | Storage: SAMSUNG 850 EVO 500GB, WD Blue 1 TB 7200rpm | PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2 | Display: Acer Predator XB271HU 1440p 144hz | Keyboard:Logitech G910 Orion Spark | Mouse: Logitech G502 Proteus Spectrum | Headset: Logitech Artemis G933 | PcPP: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/sfgGjc

This is also a good recommendation, just keep inmind with the dual core, that a lot of newer games ARE starting to better utilize quad core CPU's, if you are trying to save money, get the I3. If your budget allows it, the 6th gen I5 with DDr4 ram IMO(important here) is the better option.

I put together a build for a budget of 620, I went a bit over with 627 but I figure that shouldn't be too bad.

I was able to put on an i3-6100 assuming you can make do with only two cores, which for most gpu driven games as of now is fine while giving you a .3ghz clock boost and two generations newer which in theory should be more efficient. I was able to drop ram price a bit by removing the ram shields that really don't have much benefit, but you are also getting ddr4 this way which is better than ddr3. I kept the powersupply and storages the same because they were a low price and could get the job done. The best (IMO) upgrade to the build is that it now has the gtx 1060 instead of the 1050 ti.

Hope this helps.

EDIT: Also I just noticed I didn't add the operating system to the build and neither did you in the original, just something you should keep in mind unless you already have win10 (or win7/8) ready to install.

I'm sure you will get tons of advice on here about different builds, based on what you play, how long you want it to last, and what upgrade path you plan to take(if any) you will probably come to your own conclusion and get a great pc out of it either way. All I can say is make sure you do research on what you plan on doing and make sure you plan accordingly. The I3 is again, a great cpu but IF your budget allows, get an I5. more and more games are utilizing 4 cores and you will be left behind otherwise. Also, if it can be afforded. get 2 ram dims, carefull about brand cause there are bad ones out there, so you can take advantage of dual channel. It makes a huge difference.
