I'm debating if i should get an Antlion Mic and headphones to replace my Cloud II. Will i experience a major improvement in sound if i buy something that costs along the lines of 170$? Anyways i'm getting a new mic, so leave your suggestions on mic's and headphones. Right now i'm thinking a V-moda LP2 with their mic, and if not i'll get the Antlion Modmic 4.0. Idk, i'll see how my motherboard onboard audio sounds but i mean, should i get a dac? I have no clue on audio. please help me

you would be able to find headphones that fit your taste in audio very well and you will see a audio quality jump, but it might not be very easy to hear in the start.

You see the thing is that the human brain does not really notice when things get better, but when they got worse then it will notice it very fast.

So when you are used to the new headphones and have had them for a while then you will notice the lower audio quality coming from the clouds.

No you should not get a DAC.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

huh? many people can tell the difference it just depends on how biased they are of their older/previous product

yes the brain wants to trick you at times but saying this in general is misinforming people

If you have two headphones that sound fairly similar, you have been using the lower quality one for a year, then you get the higher quality one then there are a lot of people that just think, what? Was that it? But after a week or two of the higher quality ones and then trying the older lower quality ones, then they can hear a clear difference.

I think it was just before I went on summer holyday I had about this in school, we saw a lot of clips and read a lot about this topic, most people didn't really notice if the quality of a thing went up by a little, but when it went down by a little then they noticed it and started to point it out. It was very interresting. I also have a couple of friends who went from the clouds to the DT770 and they were a bit disapointed when they first got them, they thought that the audio quality was 100% the same, but after two weeks they tried their Clouds and they could just hear that they had the lower audio quality. I love reading about these mind fuck things, just like most people would think that a more expensive thing is better, even if they are the same thing, just different price tag, I read about some cake experiments and saw some videos about that.

Also that comment was also more meant to be "They audio qualit jump might not seem big with higher end headphones, but when you get used to them and then switch back, then it will often sound bigger than you first thought"

ok

but then again biased decisions can lead to that because now they love their new headphones

I know many people that have fallen for price or name crap

btw I have owned over 50 different pairs of headphones and some think I'm crazy until I pack up a dozen and let them test them and I get the "wow" factor

just sold my 3rd pair of fischer clones i'll miss them but prolly grab another pair once I get coupon code and use 2% cash back lol

I have tried over a 100 pairs now, so many audio meet ups, the first 8 months I was into audio, I drove around a lot to go to meet ups.. I have owned maybe 28ish pairs of headphones, but sold a lot and some just broke.

If I don't get the "wow" factor the first or second time I try headphones, then I will not buy them. That is basically how I buy headphones.

I don't think that I have tried fischer clones, not sure if they are in Denmark at all. Right now I am waiting for the PM3 and P7 to fall a bit in price, they are crazy expensive here.
