6700k will give you better fps now, 6800k (With its 2 extra cores) MAY yield better fps in the future

The 6700K has better single core performance, but the 6800K has more PCI lanes for your graphics card and expansion cards.

I would buy the 6800K if I had the choice. The 16 PCI lanes on the 6700K would be consumed by the GPU alone. Add another card and your speed is cut in half.

6700K. Games may one day take advantage of six cores, but that day is long off. The higher clock of the 6700K (and the lower cost of Z170 vs. X99) more than win this battle.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

6700k performs better in gaming, 90% of programs since most programs don't use more than 8 cores, and is almost just as good as the 6800k in rendering tasks that do use more than 8 cores.

You have a 6700K; if you have played it, do you reach 100% cpu usage in Battlefield 1?

I do. But there's no stuttering, and it reaches 130FPS.

Main PC: R7 3700X / Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro Wifi / Radeon RX 5700 XT / 32GB DDR4-3200 / 250GB & 2TB Crucial MX500 (in HP Prodesk 400 Case)

Laptop: R5 2500U / Radeon Vega 8 / 8GB DDR4-2400 / 500GB SK Hynix BC501 (HP Envy x360 13)

My little Server: i7-7700 / Asrock H110M-ITX / 24GB DDR4-2400 / Samsung 860 Pro 250GB & Seagate Firecuda 2TB / VMware ESXi 6.7

~45-75% depending on Mode, Map and Players.

That is absolutely untrue.

First of all, the Z170 has additional 20 PCI lanes iirc and unless he used god knows what, he won't come even close to using all of them, and, very very few people would.

As for speed you won't see it cut in half. You wouldn't notice FPS drops (maybe 1-2 max) even if you used x4 slot instead of x16. There are no SLI or XFire issues at all.

And there is no reason to go with 6800K, every test has showed us that 6700K is superior in gaming, just go with it and you're set for a few years.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.

I had 4690K with bf1 I was using the fix command to limit the fps to 60 and still the cpu was reachin 100% easily in some maps. Maybe they will fix that with optimization but for now and a while, it will stay like it is.

I upgraded to 6700k and god I love this cpu..

I dont even need to use the fix command, i just put Vsync, everything to ultra, with 180% res scale in 1080p,

and my cpu goes from 20% to 75% usage, soooometimes it gets close to 80-90% but for like 1-2 sec, and only in 1 or 2 maps...

Gotta say, I've seen huge improvements from i5 to i7 in bf1. Now i run every map in 180% res scale, with the i5 some map I had to drag it down to 100% because the cpu cudnt take it. now with the 6700k every map runs great with 0 spike 0 lag in 180% res scale
