Hey guys

I'm more so possibly looking into purchasing the 7990 but i want you opinion on the matter first

Now what i currently have is 2 660ti in SLI running off of a 1000w PSU (overkill i know)

System specs are as follow: NZXT Switch 810
                                             MSI MPOWER z77
                                             2500k @ 4.2ghz
                                             D14 cooling it
16GB of corsair low profile ram
                                             coolermaster silent pro gold 1000w
                                            and then storage etc

Now i have absolutely no issue with the 2 cards what so ever, i get great performance for the games i play and not much else to it really

Also at the moment i'm only using 1 screen running @ 1920x1080 (i never play on that res anyway) more so 1024x768
and the games i'm playing are just BF3, CSGO, CSS that's generally the only games i play these days, as i'm working alot these days anyway i barely game anymore

Now money isn't the issue however the price point of this card is so damn attractive as normally it retails at about $1199 RRP, also another thing to consider is this is in Australia where everything cost an arm and a leg

Now my main concerns about purchasing this product is more so the frame rating issues, now i am aware some of these issues have been resolved in the 13.8 driver release and hopefully they get resolved soon, however if i did happen to buy this card would it be something id generally notice?

Would you pick this card up if it was $599 in your area also?

I would wait for R9-290x reviews and actual price. I'm guessing the 290x will be more expensive though.

$600 USD!? Yes, definitely.

If you are getting great performance already, why do you want this card? If its for the sole purpose of saying "I have a 7990", then it's a good deal. It's a waste of money but a good deal. There are legitimate reasons for getting this card but you haven't listed any of them. Just my opinion.

Rig: i7 2600K @ 4.2GHz, Larkooler Watercooling System, MSI Z68a-gd80-G3, 8GB G.Skill Sniper 1600MHz CL9, Gigabyte GTX 670 Windforce 3x 2GB OC, Samsung 840 250GB, 1TB WD Caviar Blue, Auzentech X-FI Forte 7.1, XFX PRO650W, Silverstone RV02 Monitors: Asus PB278Q, LG W2243S-PF (Gaming / overclocked to 74Hz) Peripherals: Logitech G9x Laser, QPad MK-50, AudioTechnica ATH AD700

In optimized games, the 7990 had better performance

Even more reason to get it then  :D  ;)

If you can put 2 7970's in SLI you'd get roughly the same performance as a 7990, since it's just 2 7970 chips on a single (massive, heavy, and RIDICULOUSLY hot) PCB

Look up PC Per's Frame pacing video's on youtube (the ones that demo off crysis in slow motion with 13.8 driver frame pacing on and off)

Look up benchmarks for your SLI 660TI's, then Crossfired 7970's.

The performance jump won't be as high as you'd think, only reason being 1080p isnt really going to push 100% on dual cards like a single card would be powering it 100%, of course different games = different results

Having 140fps on a 60hz 1080p Monitor = tearing or FPS limiting >You don't need a 7990 however....Usually the MORE stress (Resolution, Antialiasing, Advanced Details) makes it worth while, saying that you would have a LOT of performance overhead for newer games @ 1080p to be used in the future...

That price tho...Maxing next years games easily at a lower cost to flagship models and similar to higher performance....Makes me think (I'd buy a 1440p monitor after that) then yes I'd grab it too.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
