Hello all,

What is the cheapest gaming build you can come up with that will NOT bottleneck a Gigabyte GTX 1070 XTREME GPU during game play at ultra settings at 1080p or 1440p?

I would be worried about only putting 8 Gigs of RAM in your system..8 isnt really the minimum anymore..it's getting really close to having 12 GB of RAM being the minimum/standard ESPECIALLY at 1440P

Project Hephaestus

Intel Core i5 6600K @ 4.2GHz~ASUS Maximus 9 Hero~32GB DDR4 @ 3200MHz~ZOTAC GTX 980 AMP Ed.

Give us a budget. Saying 'gimme the cheapest build' doesn't exactly help at all.

What games and refresh rate are we looking at?

he wants the cheapest, 8gb works, but you won't be using 20 tabs of chrome while gaming

I can;t answer the question at all, but you might also consider the games you play. GPU intensive games can run fine with an older CPU, but if they are also CPU intensive, you might need moar CPU powah.

I'd say go with a i5-6600K and a 60hz monitor.

@gtx1060=value

OP asked for a build that won't bottleneck his 1070. The AMD build will 100% bottleneck the shit out of it.

i gave him 2 builds - and he wants the cheapest options , so a i5 6500 or fx 8300's series - the bottleneck won;t be too bad

It won't be too bad? Why do you even post a build with a CPU bottleneck, if you have another build with no CPU bottleneck?

And yes, it will be bad.

You'd rather have a GPU bottleneck? The OP can always invest in a better panel to make more efficient use of the 1070.

Well, obviously yes. What you want is to be able to get all the performance out of the Graphics card.

If you have a game that is using 50% GPU and 100% CPU vs a game that is using 100% GPU and 50% CPU, the latter will perform best, whereas the performance of the other one will be very poor.

Let me pair my i7 with a 1060 3GB. Be right back.
