I'm having issues with disabling my touchpad when a mouse is plugged in. Normally, most laptops either have a function key, or an option somewhere within the synaptics drivers that allow this specific function, however this machine doesn't seem to have one. I searched google and found a bunch of results linking to articles that talk about adding an entry in the registry for synaptics to add-in the option, but unfortunately, I think these articles were for a different model, because after adding these entries, my touchpad no longer works at all (except for at the login screen oddly enough.) I realize I was dumb and should have backed up my registry settings beforehand, but i'm not sure what to do now. I've since deleted the extra entries and restored another to the value that it previously held, but i'm locked out of the synaptics options completely. I tried uninstalling the device drivers and reinstalling through windows to no avail. I could reinstall windows and start from scratch, but i'm also not sure if razer's website even has the drivers available. Would windows 10 be able to find the proper drivers on it's own you guys think?

EDIT: here's a link to the article I followed - http://www.dragonblogger.com/razer-blade-2014-disable-touchpad-usb-mouse-plugged/

Welcome to hell. Population: Razer laptop owners.

Honestly? If restoring the registry and reinstalling the trackpad drivers didn't do anything, you're probably pretty much screwed. You might need a driver list from Razer themselves, though to be completely honest, I'd say your best bet is just selling or returning the thing and getting a non-Razer notebook. I don't know what else to say.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

do you really have nothing better to do? this issue HAS a solution, I just have yet to find it. If you're not going to at least try to help, then why even bother posting?

I was honestly giving my opinion on what could be done. If restoring the registry changes done doesn't fix things, and reinstalling the drivers doesn't fix things, then you're mostly out of luck. The only thing I could think of is using one of those complete removal programs, like CCCleaner or something, to remove all traces of your touchpad from the registry. Hell, I'd get Razer Synapse uninstalled too in the same way, and fresh install both.

Aside from that, I did properly say your best bet for getting drivers (since Windows 10 is a know large fuckup for driver updates) is to get a download list from Razer themselves should you reinstall... but it still doesn't fix your initial problem of disabling the touchpad, does it? Besides, even if you sold the thing at a loss, you'd STILL have enough to buy a mostly comparable machine and have money leftover.

If you don't think my advice is worth listening to, then fine. Don't follow it. If you are mad because you bought a PoS notebook brand and I'm telling you that your problem stems from the fact that the notebook is a PoS and the best method of "fixing" your initial problem is to get rid of that overpriced PoS and getting something else? Then that's honestly your problem. I gave potential fixes for everything, and I'm not going to sugarcoat that Razer makes shit for notebooks, and has shit support for their notebooks (hence why I said, AGAIN, that another notebook might be best).

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

there's absolutely no inherent reason why this issue would be cause by the machine coming from razer. if the product was defective (ie. didn't turn on, or broken this or that.) you'd have a point, but all you're doing is making yourself look like an ass. I guess i'll take my questions elsewhere, as it seems you and you're squad show up to trash talk on every single thread about anything razer laptop related. If anyone has any valuable information they'd like to contribute, send me a PM. goodbye

Didn't you just say that your machine has no ability to disable the trackpad? Isn't that Razer's fault?

You'll have better luck on the Razer forums https://insider.razerzone.com/index.php?forums/systems.88/

I've noticed people are a tad hostile to Razer laptops on this particular forum. Imo they're good machines with faults like every laptop, arguably the best all around when you take performance, battery life, and aesthetics into account.

Thread cleaned, if you don`t have a solution please don`t reply.

@snoopunit try unsintalling Synapse and reinstalling it!

@LoveGamers i've posted a thread over there. I did find a thread about the exact same issue on a Blade 2016, but the forum forced me to make a new thread. hopefully someone can provide some insight.'

@wkdpaul thanks for the suggestion, but that doesn't seem to have helped anything either. I'll keep looking around and report back with my findings.

Every person that knows a thing or two about laptops call razer laptops for craptops, trashtops, stoves and so on. They have shit performance because they thermal throttle and razer has no QC, so guess what some people have gotten laptops with broken USB ports, heck I had a client were it didn't even want to turn on.

No they are in no way the best all around. They have a insanely short lifespand because they run hot as fuck and thermal throttle, so you get a laptop that it extrememely hot and doesn't give you the performance you paid for. A Pascal GPU thermal throttles at 82-83c, while a skylake CPU thermal throttle at  85c.

if you cannot handle the truth then go back to your safespace and never come out again.

factory restore option (F9) in the splash screen during boot up got the trackpad working again, although I still haven't found a solution for the other issue, but I guess a working trackpad is better than a broken one
