Building a new PC with a GTX 1060

RonnieLima

Hey guys,

I will be building a new PC with a GTX 1060 6gb and I am torn at what monitor to buy.  I was looking at the AOC G2460PQU and I really like how it looks and spec wise seems pretty decent.  I am looking for a 1080p 144hz monitor preferably 24 inch.  Would I be better off just buying a monitor with Freesync even though I will not be able to use that feature?  For some reason monitors with the Freesync technology all have awesome specs for a cheaper price.

You could get a freesync monitor if it doesn't cost much more and then in the future get an amd GPU so that you can reap the benefits. Or maybe you could just get a 480 or something instead.

Make sure to quote me or tag me when responding to me, or I might not know you replied! Examples:

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

If its cheaper go for it it looks great, but g-sync isn't a must have. You could also wait for vega to see if amd offers some competition for the 1060.

On ultra you might not always get 144 ish fps with a 1060 6GB depending on game you play. Could consider a step up then. Tweaking with settings is otherwise good enough to get reasonable 1080p performance.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

This is the same boat that I am in. I am planning on getting a GTX 1060 to upgrade from my 560Ti and was trying to find the best 1080p 144hz Monitor for under 250 USD to pair with it.

I was looking at this monitor yesterday and was hoping to find some feedback for it.  The reviews looked great, so I might end up getting this.  Its going to be between this and a freesync monitor.  SO even if in the future I could get an AMD GPU and enjoy the freesync

Honestly considering the price I can't see Freesync being better than this. 144hz is enough for me.

https://www.amazon.com/AOC-G2460PF-24-Inch-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B01BV1XBEI  This is the freesync one I was looking at.  For $25 more, you can have Freesync technology for the future.  If I was to get a new AMD monitor in the future
