So I recently bought a 32GB flash drive to transfer my Photo Library from my Mac to my PC.

If I try and transfer the entire photo library (17.34GB) it takes HOURS, like it stays stuck at 5.36 MB

My other option is to select all the photos and videos and drag and drop them, but when I do that, the file size goes down, i.e I have a 2.3 MB photo, it drops to like 900 KB.

Is there anyway I can transfer all the photos/videos at their actual size?

Is the flash drive USB 3?  Do you have USB 3 ports on your Mac?  With USB 3, transferring 17GB of data should take just a few minutes.

Ok let's look at a few things.

1. If you have a USB 3.0 port on the computer but you are using a drive that is USB 2.0, the performance will be that of USB 2.0.  So if you are transferring a large amount of files it will take some time. When looking at the file transfer progress bar, if you are transferring a larger number of files that are individually small in size (e.g. 10000 files each 1MB in size), the progress bar will go up reasonable fast.  But if you are transferring a small number of very large files (e.g. 10 files each 1000MB in size), the progress bar may appear to progress slightly slower.

2. Since you are transferring photos from a Mac, are you copy pasting JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP files or are you copying the Photos Library file/folder?  I ask this because when you connect a camera, phone, memory card, etc. (with photos), in OSX it asks if you want to download/import the photos to the Photos App.  If you are indeed using the Photos App to manage photos on your Mac, you can export the original version instead of a resized/compressed version.  This may be why you are getting smaller file sizes when you drag and drop.

There should be an export option under the file menu.  It should say export original file or something like that.

Thank you, I've been doing it for the last minutes, but it decided to stop randomly, yet my USB is still blinking. Maybe its transferring a big file. Thanks for telling me.

If you can get a USB 3 drive to work on that USB 3 port, the speed should improve.

Should be, $30 for a USB 3 128GB drive sounds like a nice deal.  Just make sure you buy from a reputable seller.
