NEED HELP ON EXTERNAL HD GO'N "RAW"

Recently, My Hard Drive went "Raw" probably because my PC shut down on its own while the drive was connected. I was able to recover all of my files and I looked up online all I have to do to fix the drive is to reformat it back to NTFS.

Problem is when I was formatting it it stopped and says "windows was unable to complete the format" so I unchecked "quick format" and it seems to be taking very very long. My files in the drive is atleast 200GB and the drive is 2TB. It is a WD Elements drive. I don't have that much patience and I worry about keeping my PC running for a very very long time. The Data Recovery took about 1 Day to complete and will formatting the drive will take 1 day to complete as well? Is there any other way to fix it?

Even my 16GB flash drive took almost 15 minutes for a Full Format. So, you shouldn't be worried that your 2TB HDD is taking a long time. Just be patient and leave your PC turned on.

As @Freezanator suggested, you should leave your PC to fully format the drive and you should be fine after that.

In order to check if the drive is still healthy you could run the quick and extended tests of WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic and see if the drive successfully passes them. You can also use the tool to fill the drive with zeros thus completely wiping any data from it and bringing it to its factory state.

[UPDATE]

Yesterday I read on the internet that I should delete my volume and format the disk back to NTFS and I did it but the formatting just stops after 30 Minutes or so and the Drive is still displayed as RAW.

 

Now, I am doing the extended test using the application you suggested because something wen't wrong while doing the the Quick Test. I have a screenshot of it. Also, is the "ERASE" option the one you are talking about to bring it to its factory state?

The Extended Test prompted me that "There were too many bad sectors detected" and stopped the test. So, drive is not safe anymore I guess probably gonna try the Write Zeroes option for one last go. Replacing it would be very hard. I should probably just buy an M.2 drive to be installed in my laptop where I would be keeping my data. Thanks for the help  You my friend is awesome!

Glad I could help. If you manage to get the raw values of the S.M.A.R.T. status with another tool this should give you a much more detailed picture of the drive's condition. If you have a hard time reading the S.M.A.R.T. status feel free to post it here and we'll help you out. 

 

It does sound like the drive is on its way to failure so I would back everything up from it and won't trust it with data that you can't afford to lose.
