SSD slower than hdd?!?

So when loading games and opening files i see no difference in load times between my 250 go Samsung 750 evo and my wd blue 1tb.

I can't really check that because my system boots from ssd but I don't know to make my system boot from hdd.

For games, loading seem to be dependent on something else. Very few games take advantage of ssd speeds as far as I know. Small files will see no benefit from hdd but larger files will.

It's got 40 ish gb of space left. I don't know if you would count that as out of space.

What games/how long are load times? What files are you opening and how long do they take to open? How long does your system take to boot up on the ssd?

Gta v takes about 5 secs on both my ssd and hdd. And my system takes 5-10 secs to boot from my ssd.

Unless you're playing something like CS:GO, where maps are loaded before anything else, you'll notice very few examples of faster loading. You would notice less texture "pop-in" with an SSD if it occurs.

TL:DR: When your game has to call the drive for information if it isn't present in VRAM or RAM.

I can tell you, modded Skyrim went from 3 minute loading times on HDD, to 25 seconds on SSD.

Skyrim is one of the few that benefits from ssd from what i've read. Not every game is like that though.

When I moved the gta v game file from my hdd to my ssd the speed it displayed was 160 Mb/s at first then it dropped down to 60 mb/s. same thing happened when I moved gta v back to my

hdd. It took 5 mins for

That's normal, because your transfer is going to be as fast as the slowest thing.

Example: If your SSD tops out at 500MB/s and your HDD tops out at 100MB/s, the the top transfer rate can only be 100MB/s at most.

 

Or if you had a funnel, it's like expecting the transfer time of a fluid is going to be different if you choose a different end to pour into.

The easiest way of figuring out what runs on what speed would be to run a benchmarking tool and see if both drives are running as they are supposed to and performing properly. 

Also, checking the health of both drives should be a good idea to see if both drives are in good condition. I'd recommend using manufacturers' tools. For the WD Blue that would be WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic.
