Hey guys, I'm planning on buying a new PC with either a 1070 or a 1080, to go with my rig I'll need a new monitor.

I need a monitor wich will not be curved, with a size of at least 27 inches, a 1ms refresh rate and at least 144Hz

I've been looking around and I have a few questions about resolution and the G-sync technology :

- Is there a real difference between 1440p (2560x1440) and 1080p (1920x1080) ?

- Is the G-sync technology really noticable ?

- Does a G-sync monitor still have that imput lag ?

- Does a Freesync monitor work with an Invidia GPU ?

If you have any idea of a monitor that'll suit my needs, let me know.

These are the monitors that I'm interested in, what do you think about those ?

  1. Noticeably, 1440p looks waaaay better
  2. Varies person by person but it looks a good deal smoother to me
  3. I think that depends more on the panel than the G-Sync module
  4. Freesync monitors work with Nvidia GPUs but you can't use FreeSync with it

1.) Yes there is difference between 1440p and 1080p. 1080p on 27" or bigger will look disgusting.

2.) Difference is huge. Some might say that it can even cure cancer.

3.) no idea

4.) NOT. Why would Nvidia want to be compatibile with AMD features.

1. There is. People who say there isn't are lying.

2. Again, I think I speak for the majority of people when I say it does. It makes a huge difference... it makes everything buttery-smooth.

3. I believe that varies.

4. The monitor itself will work but you cannot use FreeSync.

Any reason for a 1ms response time? You do realise that number isn't entirely accurate and you're not going to notice the difference.

cause I play a lot of competitive games, I used to play on my TV and it felt laggy whenever i pressed a key and now i'm used to my 2ms response time monitor but if you say so, from wich response time can you notice any kind of lag ?

Advertised response aren't reflective of actual response times because it varies widely during testing... I believe the lag you're experiencing with your TV is input lag... shouldn't apply to most monitors.

If you can notice the difference between 1ms and 5ms, then you have a valid reason. However, you most likely won't.

glenwing did a great job to explain most of the questions anyone might have

anything above 25" should be used with 1440p for a higher pixel density
