Hi all,

I wanted to experiment with overclockin my Gigabyte G1 Gaming 1060 a bit, if possible without it catching fire.

I have 3 configurations I would like to test, and I was planning on using Furmark to test the stability.

Basically I want to know if there is anything I should look out for, any heat or consumption feedback that may be an indication that things are about to go very wrong.

Also if anyone has overclocked this or a similar card, let me know what settings you are running :)

thanks

Don't use Furmark, try Unigine Valley or Heaven. You should get around 2100Mhz on the core assuming you up the power limit and its properly cooled.

Cool thanks for the tip.

Yeah my first one was around 2030 MHz, played some witcher and it seemed fine. I'll try the other ones on unigin valley :)

Also, try to overclock the memory, it can do around 230Mhz, it should give nice gains.

I saw a post by Guru3d where they got the memory to +725 MHz, I thought I'd test it with +500 first or is that way too much?

Start with like 300 max and go from there. Memory can see pretty big gains in performance just like core clock but cause the same amount of instability

That should be fine because if it is too much, you can always restart your computer.

"May your frame rates be high and your temperatures low"

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

Try +300 first, and then go with increments of 50, then 15, and so.

Thanks :) I've run heaven now with +115 - +135, and it hasn't crashed so far. Problem is that it will start with (for instance) 2104 and then drop to 2074 and then stay there. I'm not sure why it drops, could be power related, I know it's not temperature related since it's under 65 degrees all the time.

Push just a bit more, you're close to the limit of the chip.

Thanks, I will experiment with it some more, though I won't push it to the absolute max since it's mainly a working PC so stability is more than a bit important :p.

The core clock unigine heaven reports is incorrect BTW, it always says 2126 even though afterburner says something completely different.

Yeah that's a knows issue with new cards. Something else you can try is undervolting a bit the card when it's at stock speeds, that way it'll run cooler and boost higher than normaly
