single thread : 6700k 

multi thread : 6950x

i know this . The 6700k has higher clocks AND IPC , therefor it has the highest single core performance

It depends on the task. Running a larger server or a render farm? The i7-6950X. Running notepad or Firefox? The i7-6700K

 

It's like asking if a Ford F-350 or a Ford GT is a better vehicle. If you want to set record times on the Nurburgring, you go with the Ford GT. If you want to haul a bunch of stuff, you go with the F-350.
