Building a cheap HTPC and came across this

https://www.amazon.com/Zalman-CPU-Cooling-CNPS7000V-AL-PWM/dp/B004QS0LB0/ref=sr_1_10?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1477378949&sr=1-10&keywords=fm1+cooler

Partpicker says it's a match, newegg states it's for different sockets though.

Thought I'd ask.

Funnily enough, the manufacturer's website has nothing to say about the matter either: http://www.zalman.com/contents/products/view.html?no=358

The hook on the FM1 socket that this cooler attaches to is at the same spot as the hook in all the other AMD sockets. It's just that the brace comprises of two parts as opposed to just one. So you should be able to put this cooler on an FM1 CPU. I seem to remember some non-FM1 coolers being wobbly on FM1, like the CPU wasn't as thick. But officially that's not the case. You should be fine.

With that said, given the poor quality of Zalman products, I hope you're getting paid to do this. The fan bearing are going to go out in about two minutes and the fan is the one part of it that you should be able to but cannot swap for another.

I beg to differ. I mean, Zalman's stuff is by and large crap these days, but I have one of those exact units. For whatever reason, it's not only survived the better part of a year, but it's held a (non-OCed) 4790K in check for a week while an AIO was in the mail. It's more or less perfect for G3258 overclocking, tbqh, although it even starts to have problems once you go north of 1.35v or so.

And it's quiet. I don't believe it either. Best $10 cooler I've picked up.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.
