What cables will I need to connect my hard drive?

If it's a new build using the parts that are current, then nothing. Maybe a sata cable but it should come with one.

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

I'm actually about to get some Nice CableMod cables for my PSU, so I don't have to deal with that.

I wish they made a SATA power cable so that the connectors that are on the cable can swivel to be upside down. Would be so nice.

Normally they come with the psu and the motherboard, otherwise you may need a sata cable.

OEM HDD's don't usually come with any cables, or even packaging, so you'll definitely want to pick some up if you've already used the ones that came with your motherboard.

Hello :)

This really depends on what drives you have in mind and where and how you'd like to connect them.

Typically, as the guys suggested, you would need a SATA data and power cables (if you are using a SATA drive) in order to connect the drive to the motherboard and PSU.

If you have a drive that uses different connection (PATA, SAS, SCSI, etc.) you would need the respective cable).

Also, you could also have either a MOLEX power cable or another type of power cable powering your drive.

If you are talking about an external drive then that's a whole different manner. It would depend on he drive's connection and if it needs additional power.

Please provide more details such as the drive's brand and model and where you'd like to use that drive.

If this helped you, like and choose it as best answer - you might help someone else with the same issue. ^_^
