DAC Help...

So my motherboard (Asus ROG Rampage v Edition 10, a $600 x99 board) comes with its own DAC. it requires 6-pin PCI power and a USB 2.0 header which are both plugged in. Windows recognises it as an audio device and even made it the default.. but no matter what i try I can't hear anything out of it! 

I updated the drivers, I cranked the volume, I disabled it and re-defaulted it. I don't know what to do. halp!

Windows 10 1607 has compatibility issues with the DAC

oh that would by why than! downloading that patch now. I just updated form their support site so I don't see why this would be diffrent but i'll see.
