The Crucial MX300 are perfectly fine and preform very similarly to the evo 850. It's just not as impressive as the faster option that are on the market.

o none of the above

For me it would depend on the motherboard support for M.2 and / or NVMe.

I already have a m.2 Samsung S951 I think that's what it's called just wanted some extra ssd's for storage. I have played around with my storage a bit and sold one of my SSHD's

Never get a refurbished SSD. You don't know for how long it's been used before you get it, and SSD are much less durable than HDDs as they have a limited number of write cycles. Always buy new.

yeah that was one of my concerns I will avoid that option then

What's the warranty period on the refurbished Samsung Evo 850?  If it's the same as the new drive, definitely pick one of those up.  Samsung's SSD warranty is pretty top notch and they cover all of the shipping expenses both ways.  I had a SATA M.2 SSD go out on me once and they had it replaced by the end of the same week via mail.

Stick with the new one then.  Like I said, they are great with handling warranty issues.  I own A LOT of there SSDs and I've only ever had a problem with one.  I can't even say with certainty that it wasn't my fault.

I've found the Corsair Force LE for £110 but not sure how it will compare to 850 evo's will be using the drives for games mostly

If using for mostly storage/games you probably won't notice the difference between the MX300, Evo 850 or Corsair Force LE. Samsung 850 is the top performer of the bunch but usually a bit more expensive.

I think your polling results show a common trend.

yeah tbh Samsung drives would be my first choice i'm just trying to decide if they will be much better for the actual extra cost how much space will a 500gb drive have on windows vs a 480gb isn't it actually slightly smaller than the advertised size?

I'm not sure what the difference amounts to in US dollars, but it can't be enough to make it such a tough decision.  Especially when I look at your signature.  :D

yeah I built that pc when I was working for a Marketing company was made redundant though as the company got rid off a lot of staff so don't earn anywhere near as much now lol so cost has now become a factor to consider. It's about $50 difference between the Corsair and the Samsung 850

Well, sorry to rub that one in bud.  :|

$50 is a pretty big difference.  You might be better off with the Corsair.  They are a solid company and stand behind their products well.

Common misconception;

10003 GB  - Gigabyte
10243 GiB -  Gigibyte

So the corsair one will be around 440gb within windows and the 500gb Samsung will be around 465gb?
