First time builder here... used a number of calculators online, but still am only getting vague answers and remain unsure. So wanted to ask anyone who would help, what the recommended wattage would be for all the specific parts I am using.

- Z1Z0 - A Asus motherboard

- intel i7-6700k 4.00 ghz

- corsair dominator RAM 2 x 8gb ddr4

- corsair hydro series h100i v2 water cooler

- gtx 970 ssclk 2.0 +

-  1 tb harddirve

- 500 gb SSD

- 5 fans

Will a 650w power supply be enough for this build? Any advice would be appreciated thanks, hopefully I am posting in right area.

Have you entered this build into PCPartPicker? If so, it'll give you a wattage estimate. Bump that up by 100W or 10% (whichever's higher) and that's the number I go with.

That rig would be fine with a 500W PSU. Something like a CX450M ($30 on Newegg right now) might even do it, but that would be cutting it close. Not sure without seeing the numbers.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Well i purchased one of those bundles for oculus awhile back, and that was minimum graphics card required. So just decided to go with that same I got in the pre built pc which i am selling, first time really getting into pc gaming. Dominators.... honestly just to be over kill I guess. I do plan on using OBS to capture some gameplay on xbox and oculus for my youtube channel, so thought it could be helpful.  That whole list everything all compatible correct?

Yeah... but you could get a better graphics card and cheaper RAM. Dominators are for people who have money laying around. Even I wouldn't get them if I HAD extra money.

I see, well I saved a lot on other areas. So I just got em, probably a waste. But for now just going to throw em in as I already got em. Maybe I sell em down the line, all this is very new to me.

Ah... okay. Have you opened them? If not I would sell them tbh. What about your graphics card?

thats what I was debating on... you seem to be contradicting what other commenters are saying.

Well, they're not wrong. You don't "need" it. But it's never a bad thing to have a little overhead. Plus if you for some reason decide to add another card later, or add some more hardware or something. It's better to spend a little more once than a lot more later on. *shrug*

Also depends how often you upgrade your gear.

Why a GTX 970...?

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.
