I have gimp.

But I'll start uploading it to Drive anyway :P

- open the gif in gimp

- image -> scale image...

- fill in the res preferred for LTT profile pictures (i have no idea what it is...)

- click scale

- file -> export as...

- select gif image (just in case)

- use a different name than the original picture (just in case)

- click export

- it should pop up a window, in said window:

- tick "as animation"

- tick "loop forever"

- click export

- cross your fingers that decreased filesize.

Is there a free program (preferably not online) that reduces the file size of GIFs? I want to set one as my LTT profile picture but it's 24MB.

There might be an Android app to do that, but PC programs, nothing comes to mind.

Yes, it's 2871 as in the year 2871. I traveled all this way, back in time, just to help you. And you thought your mama lied when she said you were special-_-

Import it to Gimp > reduce all frames in resolution > change canvas size > export the GIF > see if it's smaller in size > add interlacing if it's still too big

if it's a static image anything will do, if it's an animated one, irfanfiew used to be able to do that i think. (if that's even still a thing :/)

back in "ye olde day" you could use irfanview to convert an animated gif into a series of slides, which you could then resize, and then stick it back into an animated gif.

(besides, jraphics interchange format format ;))

The way I would do it, might not be optimal, but nvm.

-Use Irfanview to extract all frames from the moving image.

-Resize all frames, if a smaller image is no problem.

-Possibly lower frame quality, if required.

-Recompile the gif with a very small tool I have.

Not sure if this small program is freeware, think so. I could mail it to you if you want to go this route, or maybe I could resize your gif for you.

With the button inbetween the visibility of a layer and the layer name. This make it so all action done on a layer with be synced with all other layers (like when you move around, resize, rotate, etc. layers)

Do I have to click the button for all of them? There's 467 frames.

In that case, make a new file (with the resolution you want the exported product to be), drag and drop the gif in a layer group, once everything is imported press the layer group and resize that (that will resize all layers in it)

EDIT:

nvm, you can't import a gif into a layer group. I'll look into what is possible.

Both gimp or paint.net lets you resize a gif file and keeps the animation.

Paint.NET didn't and I can't figure out how to do it with GIMP.

When saving it ask to keep animation. Your other option is to extract the gif pictures, resize them and then remake them back into a gif.
