If you hit eBay you can still find Socket 7 and Super Socket 7 motherboards which will accept AMD k5, k6 and K6-2 and pentium mmx chips which you can configure at around 100-233 mhz,which is probably the maximum you'd want for DOS games. Some of those boards will even have ATX connectors so you won't have to buy old style AT power supplies, and they probably have SDRAM slots (instead of EDO or FPM memories as it was common with 486 boards)

 

With some downclocking you may be able to build a DOS machine with a Socket A motherboard and some Duron chip ... those motherboards should be more easy to find.
