Newbie with Computers

fence.sleeper

Hello! I recently put together some components and I don't know what I can expect from this computer.
I posted on this forum previously that I want a gaming PC and received few feedback. I did use SOME but
I feel that there could be better changes (despite my ignorance in this subject of matter). I was told something
about compatibility or something, will all of these parts work together ? And will this be a full-set computer ?
As in Windows 10, basically like all the basic things present in any other computers. Will anything be lacking ?
How could my list be edited such that it is below my $3000 budget but still working as intended ?
I want to stream games, make videos (or render, I'm not sure what is it) and of course, play games at high FPS!

Any help will be appreciated, thanks!

You should probably add more storage, maybe like a 1tb ssd, and a 2,3, or 6tb hard drive for bulk storage and steam games that you don't need on your ssd. Also, is this you first computer??

The cpu and motherboard is too overkill for you i think.

i don't seem you can justify getting the lga2011 platform i think you'll do fine on the lga1151 with a z170 motherboard from asus. Get a lga1151 version of the 6900k and you'll be fine for the video editing. For such a awesome rig with a unclocked cpu, i would strongly suggest using the money saved from the cpu and motherboard to go watercool with a dual rad cooler you'll get more performance will a well cooled cpu. Go 1070 instead of the 1080, it will be enough for you to render your youtube videos and play some of the most demanding titles at max settings including the latest bf1.

Hope that will bring you down to ur budget. Keep the 1080 if you insist but note that the 1080 ti is just around corner and expect price fluctuations then but I don't think going lga2011 and spending 500 dollars on a motherboard while compromising on cooling is a good idea.

This is the first time I'm building a computer, I've always been using a laptop.

I'd go for a 6800k instead, and if you're just playing at 1080p you could drop down to a 1070

I've changed the 1080 thing to a 1070.. I don't understand anything else. All seems so foreign to me, my apologies.
If you could, can you like replace the one which I'm supposed to replace ?

On a side note: I noticed the compatibility notes and saw this:

Some Intel X99 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Broadwell-E CPUs.

What should I do to fix or avoid this ?

yea 1070 would be a good idea.

Personally, I've done some really CPU intensive tasks in the past such as video editing and Physics simulations like fluid dynamics etc. I found that unless you are doing very heavy video editing and very intensive simulations or programming can an i7 justify itself for the price. It comes down to the age old question of top tier i5 vs i7. I suggest you watch linus's recent cpu buyers guide to get a more detailed explanation. Personally i would suggest you get a lower end i7like the 6700k but sticking with the 6900k is also fine. But considering that there is a huge price difference. I think the 6700k would perfectly suite your needs for light video editing and gaming.

If you must need that hyper threading capability for video editing, i7 4790k is also a viable choice, given it's amazing performance and overclocks

This should be fine for what you want to do, and if you REALLY want a gtx1080 then just get it instead. But with this setup its ~$1k cheaper and it will be fine for what you want to do

Thanks! I have decided to use this. Just wondering if there will be Windows 10 or something ? Not comfortable with the Linux and Apple OS..
Also, how many USB ports are there available ? Will there be headphone and microphone jack ?

Yes, there will be a headphone and microphone jack, there are also headphone and microphone ports on the Corsair 750d. In terms of USB ports there will be 4 USB 2.0 jacks (2 on mobo, 2 on case) and 5 USB 3.0 ports (2 on case, 3 on mobo) as well as a USB 3 Type-C port on the mother board. And if you want Windows 10 you can find it on kinguin for $30 (USD) Or from Microsoft for $120-$200 depending on what version you pick, you can also get it for $95-$130 at Microcenter :)
