Hey Ltt forum ^^

right now i have a 5820k that has a problem,

would you guys say it would be worth to get a new 5820k or go higher

(i do 3d modelling and gameing :D)

Assuming it's dead, get a 6700k or wait for Kaby Lake if you can

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

anything above 6-cores is terrible value and u should only buy it unless u really need to do some intense af industry and need to get the best of the best for rendering with money to blow u should not get anything above 6-cores that is for the way the technology is now

Unless your doing something that needs an ungodly amount of ram it is probably more cost effective to just pick up two 16gb sticks of ram if you need more than you have.

i have also thought about doing that but i don't like the thought that my cpu is not working to its potential ^^ but yes thats also an option

If its not effecting the cpu's performance just stick with what you've got, your currently looking at a delta of hundreds of dollars to do exactly nothing for your computers performance.

right now i have 8 gb of ramm i can use but it gets filled up quite fast ^^ and every time its "full" it needs a restart

a 5820K is great for modeling and CPU intensive tasks like that. Ask me how i know lol. Picking a CPU isn't as simple as looking at a chart

oh lol that works too. Yeah I mean you could buy a new one then just ask for a refund for the old one so you have no downtime, IDK if they'll actually take a refund though. Never had to return a CPU :/

That sounds like a motherboard issue not CPU (though it can be a CPU issue sometimes) and as long as you can just run 2 sticks for 16GB  you have more than you need. I wouldn't buy a single thing. If you can exchange it to try another without spending anything then great but I wouldn't spend a dime trying to fix it.

Edit: You can waste your money if you want to.

If you look on your mobo manufacturers website at their BIOS updates it will show if there is an update to support Broadwell-e, which most MoBo manufacturers should have one
