Maxing out GPU usage

Hey everyone I was just wondering if it is "unhealthy" for a graphics card to be under max load for around 5 to 6 hours at a time. I have a MSI 980TI and I have been wanting to record PC game play along with that I decided that rendering it in 4k and encoding on my cpu with help from my elgato HD 60 pro all on OBS yields the best results for me. However then I render my game in 4k it maxes out my card. thanks for any help!

Electricity will kill your components. Being idle is killing them as we speak (or type). Let their deaths be meaningful.

It isn't very healthy for a graphics card to be under max for that long a time.  4k rendering is tough for a 980Ti vs something like a Quadro M6000. It would probably be better for the card to go for 2k rendering rather than 4k rendering.

Does the temp gets maxed out too? What is your electricity bill?

Ok thanks for  all the super fast responces. i will probably tone it down to 2k and see because hell even 1080 wasnt to far under my standards btu the temp stays at a steady 75C which from what i hear is about regular for this card

why render at 4K? not everyone has a 4k monitor anyway

i turned it down to 2k and honestly looks great only pulling about 70% usage and my room wont turn into a freaking sauna! thanks for all the help guys!

no but on a serious note, might check temps too. sometime cards can get high load and low temps.

even if we take care of them, they'll still find a way to injure themselves. I say we'd just leave them alone, take all the signs away and let the problem sort themselves out.

it is definitely not healthy. There is a reason why those heavy duty cards are made with the same performance for a higher price. But that said, i dont see a reasno why you should worry about it . The card is pretty robust . Just keep checking the temps and it should be fine for a while

i would assume that would be healthy, why in the world would they sell a card to only use 75% of its potential? 

my 1070 is at full usage in most games i play, and i get great temps. just keep an eye out for high temps.

Could turn up the fans. Only way one of my cards could touch 75 was with the fans at 30-50% on a blower. Back in the primitive days of air cooling that is.

if you could do a waterblock gpu... maybe ..just a farrr maybe.. hehe
