So I set back up an old system my friend gave me and every time I install the latest Nvidia driver the screen would be pixelated to the point where you can even make out anything on the screen. It only goes back to working normal when I uninstall the graphics driver and let windows install its basic display driver. The card is an EVGA GT 640 (yes I know it's old, getting my new system this weekend(hopefully) just using this one as a back up just in case any parts that are DOA. Almost forgot I'm using windows 10 Home 64 bit.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening ?

I'm at work so replies may be a little slow at times.

After installing the drivers have you checked the resolution?

It's possible that for some reason windows doesn't change the resolution to the correct one.

If you want my attention, quote meh! D: or just stick an @samcool55 in your post :3

Yup the resolution didn't change... my res max is 1280x1024 or something like that. (Using an old 14 in Acer monitor)

I don't know with W10 but i know W7 had something called cleartype or whatever.

It could change the way text was handled with a simple test you have to do so it's easier to read.

Maybe you can try to find and use that?

Again, no idea if W10 has that.

Can you maybe provide a ghetto-screenshot aka actual picture of you monitor?

Did you make a fresh install of windows? If not try DDU ( Display driver uninstaller ) to clean out all existing drivers from earlier GPUs.

Does this happen on both dvi ports? (if you have the one with 2x DVI )

I can't see anything at all on the monitor.... Not even the icons on my desktop or the background.

I'll have to reinstall the driver when I get home and take a pic of it and yes it has both DVI ports.

I haven't forgotten about you guys... I found out what the issue was, basically the card is dying but I got my new system so I don't have to worry.
