Posted October 18, 2016 Heyo, I'm currently looking at two used groups of parts: i7 3770 + HyperX 16gb + Asrock z75 Pro 3 ($300) i7 2600k + G.Skill 16gb + AsRock P67 Pro ($350) The ram differences are negligible, yet I haven't owned either of the two processors or motherboards. I'm unsure whether or not it would be worth it to go with the 2600k as it could be overclocked reasonably far... Then again, I'm currently on a Hyper 212 Evo, so not quite sure how far I could go anyway. And while the 3770 is technically newer, the P67 board looks slightly higher quality. Would love to hear your thoughts! http://youtube.com/Erigorn - http://twitter.com/ErigornYT - http://www.instagram.com/ErigornYT Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/677279-2600k-vs-3770/ Share on other sites
 Posted October 18, 2016 you could probably get more performance out of the unlocked chip with a nice overclock. Posted October 18, 2016 Author I'm just worried atm that the 212 wouldn't be able to sustain a good temp at a decent overclock though... Then again, I suppose it'd be the same concern for bclk on the 3770. http://youtube.com/Erigorn - http://twitter.com/ErigornYT - http://www.instagram.com/ErigornYT Link to comment https://linustechtips.com/topic/677279-2600k-vs-3770/#findComment-8716642 Share on other sites
 Posted October 18, 2016 overclocking non-K chips still sketches me out. But honestly with the 2600K boostiong to 3.9GHz (probably 3.7 on all cores at 100% load) you shouldn't need to overclock it unless you see real FPS dips or need it for..... idk content creation? you can upgrade to a better air cooler for better temps tho or more overheard for overclocking My Build, v2.1 --- CPU: i7-8700K @ 5.2GHz/1.288v || MoBo: Asus ROG STRIX Z390-E Gaming || RAM: 4x4GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 4 2666 14-14-14-33 || Cooler: Custom Loop || GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 Ti SC Black, on water || PSU: EVGA G2 850W || Case: Corsair 450D || SSD: 850 Evo 250GB, Intel 660p 2TB || Storage: WD Blue 2TB || G502 & Glorious PCGR Fully Custom 80% Keyboard || MX34VQ, PG278Q, PB278Q Audio --- Headphones: Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX || Amp: Schiit Audio Magni 3 || DAC: Schiit Audio Modi 3 || Mic: Blue Yeti [Under Construction] My Truck --- 2002 F-350 7.3 Powerstroke || 6-speed My Car --- 2006 Mustang GT || 5-speed || BBK LTs, O/R X, MBRP Cat-back || BBK Lowering Springs, LCAs || 2007 GT500 wheels w/ 245s/285s The Experiment --- CPU: i5-3570K @ 4.0 GHz || MoBo: Asus P8Z77-V LK || RAM: 16GB Corsair 1600 4x4 || Cooler: CM Hyper 212 Evo || GPUs: Asus GTX 750 Ti, || PSU: Corsair TX750M Gold || Case: Thermaltake Core G21 TG || SSD: 840 Pro 128GB || HDD: Seagate Barracuda 2TB R.I.P. Posted October 18, 2016 I thought Sandy bridge ran a little hot, you could probably at least 4ghz with a 212 evo.
