1. Budget & Location

I am trying to stay close to $600 US

2. Aim

I just want to get on and play any game I want to without worrying about crap graphics. So playing at 1080p would be idea in all situations.

3. Monitors

I will just have one

4. Peripherals

I don't have a monitor or keyboard. Also i'll have to get an OS since this will be my first system.

5. Why are you upgrading?

All I have now is a computer I use for college and I really want to build my own computer tower to game and do general web browsing on.

I have a build kind of going on now and I just don't know how good it is or if I should just go in a different direction entirely. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/CG6rVY

If you need any more information just let me know!

Something like this. Maybe bit unbalanced with a 1060 6gb and a 6100

Only for 30 dollar more than your current suggested build

Thanks for the help, but I was just thinking that since it is so close to Christmas time. Would it be better to wait and see what goes on sale then?

Black Friday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Cyber Monday. Wait if you can

Oh okay then. So it seems like everyone is saying 6100 but what GPU is better a RX 470 or a GTX 1060?

1060 is miles better if you can afford

Yup, wait for Black Friday. Usually crazy deals to be had.

Also you can go with the cheaper 3gb 1060, the difference at 1080p is negligible.
