First Time PC Build Questions

This is my first time building a pc but I have some experience helping others put them together. The goal is a pc that runs games well at 1440p and cost around 2000 US dollars. I have a parts list put together but had a couple main questions.

The List:

Intel Core i7-6700K

MSI Z170A GAMING M5 ATX Motherboard

G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB DDR4-2400 Memory

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 8GB

EVGA SuperNOVA G2 650W

My main question is if there is any point in getting the 6700k if I plan on using the pc mostly for gaming and some video work. I probably won't be upgrading the cpu for a while so would the 6700k be more future proof? The alternative option is a 6600k which would save me about 100 dollars.

The only other thing would be any opinions on the parts I've chosen.

Thanks is advance.

6600k will bottleneck gtx 1070 so keep 6700k. Not a bad choice

so far everything you pick seems to be nice.

Are these all your parts? No storage, case, CPU cooler, etc?

At a $2000 price point, definitely get the i7-6700K. It's worth it, especially if you are doing video work.

Are the OS, peripherals, or monitor included in your budget?

You can get 1440p gaming computer for a lot less than 2k...

Might as well get a GTX 1080 to reach the 2k mark.

There may be other stuff included in his budget, like a monitor. That would significantly change things.

Exactly, I am including monitor and peripherals in the budget. The tower will cost closer to 1500 or so.

That looks pretty good. Thanks.

Do you think the 550w power supply will be fine or would 650w be better?

For keyboards, depends on which switch you like. For mice, a very popular one is the Logitech G502. As for a headset... I can't really help as I use headphones and a mic.

Thanks for the help, I like cherry MX reds so I'll look at some reviews of keyboards that have them.
