Weird Steam glitch

Hi everyone, today i encountered something strange with Steam. I typed Dota 2 in the search box and it said i already own this game but when i check my steam library its not there. The real kicker to this story is that i never bought Bota 2 yet i can stll install and play it. has anyone else experienced it?

Dota 2 is a free game, Steam must have given you the game at some point and you just didn't realize it.

I don't think its free because it says the price of 29.99 USD to buy the game. And does Steam just randomly give you games?

Dota 2 is a weird story with Valve. If you have ever took a survey for the Dota 2 beta or whatnot, you'll receive a free copy automatically in your library. Some people have reported that Valve might just give you the game because, why not?

Valve's mindset is that more people that play it, the more revenue that can ensue because of it, free marketing if you will. I get 3-5 free copies of Dota 2 every season/holiday, I'm starting to give them randomly away to people or family members even. Don't know why Valve is doing this, I don't like this type of genre so it's going into the trash bin anyway.

they're indeed going the way of awareness. if more people play it the higher the profit margin from the workshop, they did this with tf2 as well and it increased to profit by 300% because nobody was buying it anymore.

I got Saints Row 4 for free yesterday :D

thats a weekend deal, it wont be free by monday :P
