Get both an SSD and a mechanical hard drive.

Put the operating system and frequently used programs onto the SSD, and then all of the media files/games onto the hard drive.

In fact i got two deals for a SSD, both for 100 dollars

A SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB

and a Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB

Then get it. I prefer SanDisk since it shows better performance and personally using one (Ultra II not Plus)

Potato? You mean running everything off a USB?

No, I mean using potato as your drive.

I mean, my potato's still faster than a console, so ~(-_-)~

Well yeah, but I didn't include consoles in that scale for a reason, my screen isn't wide enough.

The kingston is read 550 and write 490 where as the scandisk is read 520 and write 350. So i suggest pick the kingston

Kingston SSDs are horrible because their speed degrades a ton after some regular use.

Hello :)

My two cents here: having a SSD for your OS should improve dramatically the responsiveness and overall smoothness of your system as well as decrease dramatically your boot/loading times. This is a great option for upgrading your system.

Hybrid drives are great for single-bay systems as they offer both large storage space and good performance for the most frequently used applications that are stored on the small SSD portion of the drive. Mind that you don't really have access to that portion and the drive itself decides which data goes there based on how frequently you are using it.

Getting a SSD for caching purposes only is also a good idea, but in your case it would do the same a s regular SSHD.

I'd follow @Godlygamer23's suggestion regarding the storage's configuration.

Let me know if you need any info or tips :)
