Pc starts for 1 sec and turns off(failure @ cpu plug?)

zopa34

Today I tried to turn on PC but it failed. I replugged psu cable and it started to work for like 0.5 sec abd turned off. It didn't do anything after this when I pressed power button unless I replug psu cable again.

I unplugged everything from psu and found out that cpu plugs one pin is brownish like burnt. After unplugging everything I did paperclip test and PSU worked.

After putting everything in I tried powering it without gpu but still nothing.

I'm using:

unknown name 300w psu

AsRock 775 socket motherboard

Intel pentium R duo @2.83

HD4850

I will try to upload pic of connector but i'm on phone. Gotta find out how to do it.

Clear the CMOS. Your EPS 4-pin is definitely burnt and may not work.

the psu is probably dead, but try removing the cmos battery as well as the power for like 5 minutes and try again.

When I say the PSU is dead, I mean the amount of wattage output has been reduced to null, or close to it.

>Unknown name powersupply & Burnt CPU plug.   Sounds like a bad powersupply.  If you have another laying around the house that you could use, just to confirm the problem, that would be ideal.  Don't want to buy a new powersupply to find that the problem resides somewhere else.

Honestly investing in a proper powersupply is not something people should overlook.  It is afterall the lifeblood of your system.  You don't want it literally blowing up at some point.  Some great brands are Corsair, Coolermaster, Seasonic, and OCZ.

Good luck.

Whelp, you're SOL. You should get a new PSU and try it out. If it doesn't work, it killed something.

Sounds like your PSU is top notch China technology. Mildly put, it is a fire hazard.
