Harddrives?

Hey guys im trying to format my ssd so i cloned all of its stuff to my hdd and im trying to format the ssd in windows buts its saying cannot format the drive with windows installed on it. So how do i format the ssd if it has windows on it?

Are you sure the SSD isn't your current boot drive?

Windows must still be booting from your SSD. Make sure you are booting from your HDD. Then it should work.

Try format while installing windows. Like use windows installation and format it that way

if i understood correctly. the ssd is a boot drive (has windows on it) you copied the whole thing to a hdd. now you are trying to format the ssd with windows still running of it? this will not work. you have two options:

A) Get a windows dvd/usb and just format the drive then clone back from the HDD

B) Set boot priority in BIOS to the HDD so windows will run of it and right click SSD and format then clone back

 

I dont know what you are trying to do because usually when you want to format a boot drive windows is not working properly and you want to fix it/make a fresh start with everything running smoothly.

If you cloned the drive boot from the clone hdd, and then format the ssd.
